About Complix

Why Complix exists

I’ve been a licensed real estate professional in Ontario since 2008. Over those 18 years, I’ve watched the FINTRAC compliance landscape change dramatically. Most brokerages haven’t kept up.

When I first learned about the increased fines under Bill C-12, it hit me hard. In 18 years, I had never formally trained on my own brokerage’s FINTRAC regime. I was a walking liability, to myself and to the brokerage I worked for, and I didn’t even know it.

That’s where a lot of brokerages are right now. Not because anyone’s negligent. Compliance competes for time against listings, closings, and agent management, and it usually loses. Some brokerages don’t have a program at all. Some have a generic template downloaded years ago and never customized. Some have a solid program that simply hasn’t been checked against the October 2025 amendments or the March 2026 Bill C-12 changes.

I started Complix because every brokerage deserves two things: a compliance program that reflects how they actually operate, and an honest outside look at whether it holds up.

What I am

  • A licensed Ontario real estate broker with 18 years of industry experience
  • Someone who has invested significant time studying the PCMLTFA, FINTRAC’s published guidance, CREA’s template materials, and Canada’s National Risk Assessment
  • A former Senior Project Manager in tech and finance, used to turning findings into finished work on schedule
  • A compliance program developer who understands the daily workflow of a brokerage, the transaction lifecycle, and how agents actually interact with clients
  • Someone who speaks plainly and will tell you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear

What I am not

I believe in being upfront about what I offer and what I don’t.

  • I am not a lawyer. I do not provide legal advice. I recommend every client have their compliance program reviewed by qualified legal counsel.
  • I am not a CPA or financial auditor. My effectiveness reviews assess your compliance program against FINTRAC’s requirements. They are not a financial audit.
  • I am not a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
  • I do not guarantee that your program will satisfy FINTRAC upon examination. What I guarantee is that my work will be thorough, brokerage-specific, and built on current FINTRAC guidance and CREA’s official framework.

You’ll find consultants who won’t tell you their limitations. I’d rather you know exactly what you’re getting.

How I work

I keep diagnosis and repair separate. A review tells you where your program stands, with every finding rated by risk. What happens next is your decision. Fix the gaps in-house, hand some of them to me, or hand me all of them. Keeping the two apart means my findings have one job: being accurate.

Review

An independent look at your manual, risk assessment, files, and how agents actually apply the program.

Implementation

Closing the gaps from a review, or building a full program for brokerages starting from nothing.

Training

In-person or self-paced online, with completion records ready for your Compliance Officer’s file.

Ongoing support

An annual retainer that keeps your program current as rules change and agents join.

The goal is the same every time: a program you can hand to a FINTRAC examiner with confidence. See services and pricing.
