About Complix

Why Complix exists

I’ve been a licensed real estate professional in Ontario since 2008. Over those 18 years, I’ve seen the FINTRAC compliance landscape change dramatically, but most brokerages haven’t kept up.

When I first learned about the increased fines under Bill C-12, it hit me hard. In eighteen years, I had never formally trained on my own brokerage’s FINTRAC regime. I was a walking liability, to myself and to the brokerage I worked for, and I didn’t even know it.

That’s the position most small and mid-size brokerages are in right now. Not because anyone’s negligent, but because compliance competes for time against listings, closings, and agent management, and it usually loses. Some brokerages don’t have a program at all. Some have a generic template downloaded years ago and never customized. Some have a program that doesn’t reflect the October 2025 amendments or the March 2026 Bill C-12 changes.

I started Complix because I believe every brokerage deserves a compliance program that actually reflects how they operate, written by someone who understands the real estate business from the inside.

What I am

  • A licensed Ontario real estate broker with 18 years of industry experience
  • Someone who has invested significant time studying the PCMLTFA, FINTRAC’s published guidance, CREA’s template materials, and Canada’s National Risk Assessment
  • A compliance program developer who understands the daily workflow of a real estate brokerage, the transaction lifecycle, and how agents actually interact with clients
  • Someone who speaks plainly and will tell you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear

What I am not

I believe in transparency about what I offer and what I don’t.

  • I am not a lawyer. I do not provide legal advice. I recommend that every client have their completed compliance program reviewed by qualified legal counsel.
  • I am not an accountant or auditor.
  • I am not a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
  • I do not guarantee that a completed compliance program will satisfy FINTRAC upon examination. What I guarantee is that the program will be thorough, brokerage-specific, and built on current FINTRAC guidance and CREA’s official framework.

This transparency is intentional. You’ll find consultants who won’t tell you their limitations. I’d rather you know exactly what you’re getting.

What Complix delivers

Every compliance program I build follows the same methodology:

  • A thorough discovery session to understand your brokerage’s specific operations, client base, geography, and technology
  • A brokerage risk assessment using FINTRAC’s required 6-step methodology, with documented rationale for every risk score
  • Customized policies and procedures that reflect how your brokerage actually operates
  • A complete forms package with all current CREA templates
  • A written training plan that satisfies FINTRAC’s training pillar requirement
  • Delivery in a printed, audit-ready binder plus digital files

The result is a program you can hand to a FINTRAC examiner with confidence. Not a binder that’s been collecting dust on a shelf.

Let’s talk about your brokerage.
